Trip to Cali

Just getting back from visiting California to meet Brian's parents. Things went really well. They threw us a little baby shower brunch and we received our first batch of baby stuff. We got lots of wonderful gifts including a stroller/infant car seat from Brian's parents. Plus I got to see the city. It was all so very beautiful, I actually think I'm looking forward to moving. That won't happen until after the baby gets here though, so one step at a time.

We came back from our trip last night to an eerily empty house (our roommates moved out while we were gone), reminding me how very much there is to do before the baby gets here. I've started planning out where the furniture will go, and My parents are coming to help us move stuff around this weekend. Also I have to get addresses together so that my mom can send out baby shower invitations, something that I probably should have taken care of before we left for Cali.
My third trimester technically starts tomorrow. It's king of scary how fast December is coming up. I'm continuing to gain weight (no surprise with the way we ate on the trip), and my ankles have started swelling some. Lilia (note the name change) seemed to enjoy flying (or at least kicking me during takeoff and landing). She's been very active and hopefully Brian will be able to feel her move again soon. We have a Doctors appointment on Friday so I'm sure I will post again afterwards.

10 lbs!

Like every doctors OB appointment this one started with me peeing in a cup, followed by stepping on to the scale. unlike all my other OB appointments however, this time I hadn't lost weight but in fact had gained a whopping 10 pounds, IN ONE MONTH! I know, I know I shouldn't feel bad, I was supposed to have gained that much by now anyway, but somehow it really worries me that I've gained so much so fast.

In less devastating news, the baby has been very active the past few days. She seems to be moving all the time now (not just when I want to sleep). Sometimes I swear she can hear Brian ask me if she's awake. As soon as I say no she's not she starts kicking. Brian even got to feel her move for the first time, although you can barely feel it right now. I think he'll be more excited when its stronger. I'm really excited now that I'm getting close to my third trimester, but I'm pretty terrified too.

half way there

I am really starting to show now, and really starting to worry about all the things that need to get done before baby gets here. still I feel like there is almost nothing I can do to get things moving. We're kind of in a waiting period. John and Frannie will be moving next month, so the house will be empty. That's when things will really shift into gear. Still I'm going crazy in the mean time with wanting something to do. I'm working now so that's helpful... but I don't think its going to be enough of an income to catch up on my bills and pay my portion of the rent. Plus with all these new expenses coming up I just feel so helpless and useless.

Baby Hat

So yesterday I was feeling kind of crafty and I took the initiative to start my baby quilt. Unfortunately I got side tracked by the Idea of making a baby hat, and got nothing done on the quilting venture. The hat turned out really cute though! I'm posting a Picture of it. Its a white satin with an adorable pink bow on top.

A NAME!!!

I think we have a name! after thinking it over for a long time and considering all the pro's and con's we still really like Lily Ana. We even went so far as to tell our friend and doula of the decision (her name is Anna and that is where we got the middle name). I really like it, and Brian seemed pretty taken with it to. Of course I reserve the right to change my mind... But I think its a keeper!

It's a Girl!

Last friday we had our second ultrasound, and while the baby seemed very reluctant to show us her face, she had no problem flashing her naughty parts. The doctor says he's sure it's a girl. I secretly thought it was a girl or maybe hoped it was a girl... but I didn't want to say anything in case it was a boy, and because Brian and my family all wanted a boy. Ah well my mother is happy, and I think Brian is too. the only problem now is that with all the cute things for baby girls I will have to work extra hard to keep what little money I have in my bank account.
